Louisiana Division of the Arts

The Division of the Arts has served Louisiana’s arts community since 1977 by providing programs, services, and support to individual artists and a variety of arts and cultural organizations. Arts and culture support jobs, tourism, and education while stimulating creativity, leadership, economic vitality, and enhancing the quality of life.

Creative Aging Profile

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge hosted a free day-long workshop called Creative Aging Symposium & Art for Alzheimer’s Show. It was inspired by the life and work of watercolor artist Byron Levy and explored creative tools for healthy aging. There were specially designed interactive sessions in creative writing, music, visual arts, and storytelling.

Agency Initiative

Louisiana is currently working on establishing the LA Creative Aging Initiative, which will assist arts organizations in developing and providing arts programming for older adults.
